Gordon Harker has invented a line in stage humour which he has all to himself. He plays "tough" characters who delight in aping the accents of gentility and, like all great comedians, has created the part by laying emphasis on natural features. His heavy jaw and jutting underlip readily produce an impression of toughness that is quite foreign to his real character. He comes from a famous family of scenic artists, and the blending of his stage make-up with his natural leanings cleverly portrays that type of bruiser who has always a yearning for gentler things.
