Jack Hulbert (1892 - 1978). This immensely popular light comedian frequently appeared with his wife Cicely Courtneidge on both stage and screen. His career went through a golden period in the early thirties with several classics including those listed above and Bulldog Jack. By the start of the war his film career was effectively over, but he and Courtneidge continued to entertain on stage.
