As poster collecting has developed as a hobby, so more books on the subject have been published. Books on British posters have remained rare. Sim Branaghan's book fills that gap in the market, and fills it magnificently.
With hundreds of examples, the book covers the history of British cinema posters from its beginnings to the present day. The first four chapters gives an historical overview of the poster in Britain. The subsequent chapters deal with distributors, artists and even printers. It's as comprehensive a volume as one could wish to find.
There are literally hundreds of illustrations - mostly for British films - to show how the art has developed over the years. It's a really handsome book and the perfect gift for any lover of films.
